A Good Week
This past week was a very good week. It began on Sunday with a brunch/reception for our preacher (and his family) who was being moved. The reception was held during the time that normally would have been Sunday School classes. After church Lauri called while I was getting things together to cook lunch. I was expecting her and Jeff to come later and have supper with us, so when she asked about lunch, I had to do a little revision of the menu. I fixed beef schnitzel with mashed potatoes, grilled yellow squash, and fried green tomatoes. It turned out pretty well. It was Fathers' Day and the card that Lauri and Jeff gave me (along with a garden stool/scooter and a serving bowl) was very touching.

On Monday we got some more yard work done. In addition to the regular chores, we still have a few projects to finish but I'm pleased with the way the garden looks.

I spent most of Tuesday working on web stuff. I took my digital camera out into the garden and photographed things that are blooming now. After cropping the photos, I added four pages to our garden web site.

We used Wednesday for a day of shopping in Memphis. Lynda had seen some items at a Pier 1 in Hot Springs and later decided that she wanted them. There where some plants that I wanted that I had not located in FC. So, our two major stops were a nursery and a Pier 1. We made two Pier 1 stores before we headed back to FC. We had a commitment to deliver a dessert to the parsonage for supper. Wednesday was moving day in our conference. Larry, Grace, and Daniel moved out that morning and Keith and Donna moved in during the afternoon.

Lynda had a dental appointment on Thursday morning. I did a little yard work but spent most of the day with photos and web.

Friday we had the house washed. Then I took some more photos on the garden.

Saturday, June 25, 2005, marked our 45th wedding anniversary. We invited Mike and Betty to have dinner with us at Oscar's. This was our first time eating there since the ownership had changed.

Today we had a brunch/reception for our new pastor and his wife. I believe that we have another good preacher.

Summer Lazy Days

We have been doing some yard work and the garden is beginning to look pretty good. I've taken the panzies out of the window boxes and they now have petunias. C.L. has done a good job of clearing out some of the flowerbeds. I trimmed a lot off the wild rose that is on the arbor--just hope that it blooms ok next year. We missed quite a bit of the spring blooming while we were on our trip.

We drove over to Hot Springs on Thursday in order to attend a reception for Tom Spencer who is retiring from the community college there. We stayed the night and visited the Gavan Woodland Gardens on Friday morning. We only covered about half of the area--it was hot and humid. We plan to go back several times.

Getting back into the groove.

Well, we are back home (and have been since Wednesday). Neal is back to normal after the doctor adjusted the dosage of his medication. He went back to work on Tuesday which was the day he was scheduled to go back.

Lynda and I got plants and stuff to do some work in our garden, so tomorrow morning I plan to get up early. C.L. is coming to help redo some of the flower beds and trim some dead limbs from a tree.
